do you take insurance?

As an out-of-network provider (sometimes referred to as a “self-pay” practice), we do not accept insurance.

how do i pay for services?

Most clients pay for services by simply placing a card on file (e.g., Visa, MasterCard, Discover, Amex, HSA/FSA card) inside their secure Client Portal.

Once you’re in our system as a new client, our easy automated billing system that simply charges your card on the evening of your session. Example: If you see your therapist on Tuesday afternoon, our system would charge the card on file late Tuesday evening.

since you don’t accept insurance, what happens instead?

We send you a receipt of sessions to send to your insurance for reimbursement.

Insurance companies usually offer partial reimbursement for your out-of-pocket investment in therapy. While each insurance company (and coverage plan) is different, most reimbursements usually range between 30% (lowest) to 100% (highest) of your session fee.

what if i’m considering the insurance reimbursement option?

We recommend you check your existing mental health/behavioral health coverage by calling your insurance provider and saying/asking the following:

  • SAY:

    • “I recently found an out-of-network therapist I want to work with, but have a few questions about my specific plan. Since I’d be investing out-of-pocket and getting reimbursed, I need someone to give me a clear explanation of benefits (EOB) and walk me through the process.”

  • ASK:

    • Does my plan provide reimbursement for seeing a therapist who’s not in your network?

    • Is there a deductible I need to meet before you start to reimburse me?

    • How many sessions per year does my plan cover? Is there a limit?

    • What percentage (%) of my out-of-pocket investment do you cover?

We have a simple, 2-step process to make reimbursement easy:

  1. We provide you with an itemized “receipt” of services (called a “Superbill”) at the end of each month. This is the paperwork needed to send to your insurance company and request reimbursement.

  2. You submit this “receipt” to your insurance provider. Insurance companies pay/reimburse you directly for a portion of your out-of-pocket investment, depending on your specific coverage & plan benefits.

makes sense, but why don’t you accept insurance?

Great question. Simply put, we don’t accept insurance because:

  • Insurance companies can place limits on the length and number of sessions. Without insurance, we are able to offer more flexibility to meet our client's needs and unique schedules.

  • Accepting insurance requires our clinicians to give clients a psychiatric diagnosis to prove “medical necessity” for each client. While this can be (and is) appropriate at times, we focus on your healing and wholeness rather than a diagnosis or “label” of illness used to satisfy the needs of insurance companies.

  • A client’s diagnosis becomes part of their medical record. Some high visibility clients are sensitive to this, but still want to receive services. By not accepting insurance, clients still receive the full benefits of therapy while also protecting their personal and/or professional anonymity.

Finally, rather than our staff spending time going back-and-forth with insurance companies all day, we are laser-focused on providing the most transformative therapy, empowerment and wellness services for our clients.

sounds good! How soon can i start?

The quickest way to get started is to schedule a no-cost phone consultation.

Phone consults are brief (e.g., around 15 mins or so) and allow you to:

  • Share a short overview about what's going on

  • Connect directly with a therapist or wellness coach and see if you think there’s a good fit

  • Ask any questions you may have and decide if you want to move forward

After the phone consultation—provided it makes sense to move forward on both ends—we’ll work to get your first session booked/confirmed as soon as possible.
